The heavy minerals turn to the lower layer and the light minerals to the upper layer. This process is called "segregation and stratification". The ore particles are subjected to a smaller impulse, so the lateral movement speed of light mineral particles on the bed surface is greater than the lateral movement speed of heavy mineral particles on the bed surface.
